The role:

The Leisure and Recreation Services Team’s mission is to Activate and Connect our Community.  The Senior Recreation & Open Space Planner will provide Council with high quality project management of recreation and open space planning for passive and active open space that reflects current and future needs.

About you:

 The successful candidate will possess

  • Tertiary qualifications in recreation, leisure studies, planning, landscape architecture, project management or a related discipline combined with significant experience in recreation and open space and project management within a Local Government context.
  • Sound technical, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Highly developed, analytical and investigative skills to enable the formulation of policy options from within an organisational-wide framework.
  • Demonstrated capacity to analyse and integrate technical data and consultation outcomes into succinct and informative documentation.
  • An understanding of the long-term goals and values of the organisation with a high degree of political acumen and appreciation of the local government environment.
  • Thorough understanding of planning and project management techniques and principles and the demonstrated capacity to deliver quality projects on time and within budget.
  • The ability to gain cooperation and assistance of other staff, the community and external agencies to discuss and resolve specialist problems and achieve desired outcomes for the City.
  • Evidence of a recreation and open space planning and design focus experience and a commitment to quality outcomes.
