 The role:

The Privacy and Information Access Officer is responsible for delivering a high-level information access service to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that Council meets its obligations under the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and the Freedom of Information Act 1982. 

The role also provides Freedom of Information and Privacy advice and guidance to Council staff and members of the public in accordance with Council policies, procedures, processes and industry standards.

 About you:

  • Thorough working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1989 and 2020; Freedom of Information Act 1982 and Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and other statutory requirements.
  • Highly developed attention to detail attributes and highly developed research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to gain co-operation and assistance from internal stakeholders, sometimes involving sensitive issues, in order to exchange information, seek advice and coordinate services and activities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex legislative information in a clear and easy to understand manner to a range of stakeholders.
  • Effectively handle and respond to all FOI and privacy requests in accordance with relevant legislative requirements and timeframes.
  • High level of written, reading and oral English language skills.
